AI label for WeChat content

WECHAT announced yesterday that it will begin adding labels to AI‑generated and synthetic content, in accordance with a Chinese Government mandate that takes effect today. On March 14, the Cyberspace Administration of China and other departments issued the Labeling Measures for Content Generated by AI, accompanied by a mandatory national standard.

The measures define AI‑generated content as information — including text, images, audio, video and virtual scenes — created or synthesized using AI technology. Under the new rules, the platform will display labels and provide prompts for content that may be AI‑generated, helping users to identify such material more clearly. WeChat also reminded users that they are required to proactively disclose when the content they publish is AI‑generated or synthetic.

Huawei’s H1 financial report

HUAWEI reported operating revenue of 427.039 billion yuan (US$59.8 billion) in the first half of 2025, an increase of about 4% year‑on‑year, according to the company’s interim financial results published Friday. R&D expenditure reached 96.95 billion yuan, up 9.04% year‑on‑year and accounting for 22.7% of revenue.

Net profit for the period stood at 37.195 billion yuan, a decline of 32% from the first half of 2024, producing a net profit margin of 8.7%. The report points to rising R&D investment as a key factor weighing on profitability.
