China leads in nanotechnology CHINA accounts for 43% of globally authorized nanotechnology patents over the past 25 years, the highest share worldwide, according to a white paper released at a nanotechnology industry forum in Beijing on Sunday. Between 2000 and 2025, more than 1.07 million nanotechnology patents were granted globally, with China responsible for some 464,000 of them. The white paper says China’s patent portfolio is concentrated in areas such as semiconductor devices, catalytic chemistry, biomedicine and new materials.
