BGI Group unveiled a slate of new products and services across its core sectors, including precision health, food safety, agriculture, biodiversity, and public health, at its 2025 global new product launch, which was held at its BGI Center headquarters in Yantian District on Tuesday.

The event, which also marked BGI’s 26th anniversary, spotlighted the firm’s efforts to translate genomics research into industry-ready solutions that improve well-being.

In his keynote, CEO Yin Ye stressed that technological innovation must be for everyone. “BGI aims to leverage its self‑developed gene technologies to make the latest advances in life sciences both accessible and affordable to the public,” he said.

Precision health was a central focus. BGI unveiled personalized gut microbiome solutions that combine sequencing with tailored recommendations for microbiome regulation and long‑term health management.

The company described a new precision health management model that emphasizes individualized and continuous care. By integrating multi‑omics analysis and artificial intelligence, the model produces personalized health‑risk maps and customized plans covering prevention, screening, diagnosis, and ongoing management.

The launch also underscored BGI’s “One Health” approach, which links human, animal, plant, and environmental health. The company introduced “sample‑to‑result” testing workflows and rapid sequencing tools designed to shorten pathogen detection and response times, delivering precise analysis within hours and improving public‑health readiness.

Genomics-driven solutions featured in the company’s food safety and agricultural innovations. BGI’s “Land‑to‑Table” system uses DNA as a genetic ID to trace products through supply chains, detect adulteration, and verify origin. Agricultural innovations include perennial rice and maize varieties that regrow after harvest, cutting labor and costs, and microbial fertilizers that enhance soil health while reducing chemical inputs — measures aimed at raising yields while lowering environmental impact.
