THE seventh LadyGo charity run is scheduled to take place at Longgang Children’s Park on Sept. 20. Registration is now open for two categories: the “Run for Her” adults’ race and “Care for Girls,” the minors’ category. This year’s Run for Her aims to enhance public awareness of breast cancer prevention and control. It advocates early prevention, early detection and early treatment against the disease. The Care for Girls category seeks to encourage girls’ interest in sports and health through running, and to foster a sport-friendly community environment. Run for Her The race is a 95-minute relay for four-member teams circling the Longgang Children’s Park, with at least three team members being female. The team completing the most laps by the end of the allotted time wins. In case multiple teams complete the same number of laps, the tie will be broken by the fastest single-lap time. Per the competition rules, the lead-off runner must be female, and any male team member may only enter the race after the 70-minute mark. Baton changes are allowed only within three designated windows, which are set at 20-25 minutes, 45-50 minutes, and 70-75 minutes. Teams may continue running or wait in the designated exchange zone until those windows open. Any team that passes the baton outside the designated periods or areas will be disqualified. The race is limited to 50 teams only. No cash prizes will be awarded, but the top three teams will receive prizes. All participants will receive a participation necklace. Care for Girls The minors’ category is a non-competitive, family-based race open to 100 teams of two, each team including one minor. The distance is 3 kilometers. For safety concern, all teams are required to complete the 3-kilometer within 30 minutes; those who do not must stop and withdraw from the course when the time window closes. All participating girls will receive a necklace and a charity run certificate.
