TO celebrate the 76th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China, the 2025 National Day fireworks display will dazzle the skies above Victoria Harbor in Hong Kong at 8 p.m. on Oct. 1. The 23-minute extravaganza will be launched from three barges and feature over 30,000 fireworks in eight stunning acts, accompanied by a blend of classical, patriotic, and contemporary music. Spectators in Tsim Sha Tsui, Wan Chai and other harbor-front areas will enjoy prime views of the show. The show begins with peony- and chrysanthemum-shaped fireworks set to “Symphonic Overture No.1.” The second act marks 60 years since the Dongjiang River water supply began supporting the city, symbolized by cascades of blue fireworks to moving melodies. Cultural highlights will follow. “The Great Story of Nezha” celebrates the success of the animated film “Nezha 2,” with colorful shifting fireworks evoking vitality and courage. “Always Lovable Giant Pandas” pays tribute to Hong Kong-born panda twin Jia Jia and De De, with panda-shaped fireworks paired with green bursts symbolizing bamboo groves. The following acts will feature vibrant heart-shaped fireworks, reflecting Hong Kong people’s love for both their home and country, as well as circular and smile-shoped fireworks celebrating China’s achievements in space exploration. As the 15th National Games approach, the “Five-Star Flag Shining at National Games” act will showcase red, purple and green fireworks representing the unity of Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao, accompanied by the event’s official theme song. The finale will bring the celebration to a climax. A breathtaking cascade of gold, silver and red fireworks will erupt across the night sky, symbolizing prosperity, rejuvenation, and blessings for the nation and Hong Kong.(Windy Shao) |
