Semiconductor expo showcases domestic tech breakthroughs

THE WESEMiBAY Semiconductor Ecosystem Expo 2025 opened at the Shenzhen Convention and Exhibition Center in Futian District yesterday, drawing large crowds as numerous companies unveiled their latest products and technologies.

The expo features not only four core exhibition zones — wafer manufacturing, advanced packaging, compound semiconductors, and chip design — but also three specialized sections highlighting AI chips and edge computing ecosystems, RISC-V ecosystems, as well as Chiplet and advanced packaging.

Star companies like Shenzhen-based SiCARRIER attracted significant attention, with their booths crowded with visitors. SICARRIER’s subsidiary, Longsight, had an independent display showcasing its next-generation digital network test products and high-frequency, high-speed chip testing solutions.

A major highlight was Longsight’s launch of its self-developed new-generation ultra-high-speed real-time oscilloscope. With a bandwidth breaking through 90GHz, the instrument boosts the performance of domestic oscilloscopes by 500%, the company stated.

This technology is capable of supporting research and development for advanced 3nm and 5nm process nodes.

Oscilloscopes are indispensable tools in technology-intensive industries like electronics, semiconductors, and integrated circuits. However, the Chinese high-end oscilloscope market has long been dominated by Western manufacturers such as Keysight, Tektronix, and Teledyne LeCroy, with domestic providers previously limited to mid-to-low-end products offering bandwidths between 8GHz and 18GHz. Internationally leading high-end oscilloscopes offer bandwidths exceeding 60GHz, reaching up to 110GHz.

In another significant announcement, Qiyunfang, another subsidiary of SiCarrier, introduced two electronic design automation (EDA) software products for schematic and PCB design, which boast completely independent intellectual property rights.

This launch fills a critical gap in domestic high-end electronic design industrial software, marking a major milestone in China’s pursuit of self-sufficiency in semiconductor and electronic industrial software.

The expo also attracted a global audience, including international industry specialists.

David Frantsyshin, a specialist at Russia’s Ostec Corporate Group, said he traveled to the event to find new partners. “I’ve seen a lot of new products year by year, and the China market, especially the semiconductor market, is booming in my opinion,” Frantsyshin told Shenzhen Daily. “That’s why it’s very interesting for Russian people to come to China, to meet people, to establish business partnerships.”

Ofer Shopen, an application engineer at the U.S.-based semiconductor equipment company Applied Materials, attended to gather information on technology and manufacturing challenges.

Shopen said his company was giving a presentation at the expo. “We understand that there is a big exhibition here and many presentations, so we decided to join this year.”

The expo is scheduled to run through Friday.
