Star Dynamics unveils its first android
    2025-11-05  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

STAR Dynamics Technology, a new robotics startup, has unveiled its first humanoid robot. The company was established in September by Hongrun Construction Group and Matrix Super Intelligence, a firm founded by Zhang Haixing, the former head of Tesla’s China design center. The announcement coincided with the company's move into its new headquarters in Ningbo's Qianwan New Area on Monday.

The newly revealed Star Dynamics No. 1 android features a highly realistic human-like appearance, with no exposed cables or joints. Its design includes a coating similar to the golden version of Tesla’s Optimus robot.

According to corporate data, Hongrun Construction holds a 60% stake in the joint venture, with Matrix Super Intelligence owning the remaining 40%. The partnership aims to research, develop, produce, and commercialize humanoid robots.

Zhang stated that Star Dynamics is directly benchmarking its technology against leading full-sized humanoid robots in North America, such as those from Figure, Tesla's Optimus, and 1X Technologies. While competitors are exploring home-use scenarios, Zhang believes the underlying technology and supply chain need further development before true home application is feasible.

A key differentiator, according to Zhang, is the robot's intelligence and stability. “A truly intelligent robot should be able to communicate smoothly using natural language, not complex instructions,” he said. He also highlighted a significant technical achievement: “Through our self-developed architecture, we have compressed the core control code from hundreds of thousands of lines to less than 3,000. This enhances system stability and is the key to large-scale mass production.”

The company is focusing on production-ready design. “Mass production requires hardware that is easy to manufacture and maintain, with upgrades allowing the robots to adapt to different scenarios,” Zhang noted.

In contrast, Tesla has allegedly reduced its Optimus production targets due to technical difficulties.

Star Dynamics has announced an ambitious timeline, aiming to begin mass production next year and lower prices within two to three years to make its robots accessible to households.
