The two-night event, running Wednesday and Thursday, featured five major thematic exhibition zones, two special activity areas, and a variety of interactive performances — all designed to highlight the value and beauty of mangroves, and to promote their conservation as part of everyday life. This year’s event follows a key milestone reached on Nov. 6, 2024, when representatives from 18 countries gathered in Shenzhen to sign the agreement establishing the International Mangrove Center. As part of this year’s celebration, case studies of conservation efforts from the founding member countries — including Cambodia, Madagascar, Cuba, and Pakistan — were on display. Shenzhen University Ph.D. candidate Verónica González from Panama said that the eco-living bazaar at the event helped transform complex ecological knowledge into simple crafts and games, allowing children to develop environmental awareness from an early age. “We need to promote this model worldwide to enable people to connect and enhance communication through ecological protection,” she said. |
