THE cultural quarter in Shekou comes alive with three immersive experiences at the K11 ECOAST, from delicate paper art and playful pet photography to a seaside hybrid gallery blending art, fashion and coffee. Jackie Wen’s paper art exhibition Stepping into Jackie Wen’s “Luminous Nights: Jellyfish in Paper” solo exhibition feels like entering a dream crafted from paper. The contemporary Chinese artist has created a mysterious, immersive environment using light, shadow and the paper art. Drawing on Shekou’s maritime culture and history, Wen has transformed the exhibition space into two parallel worlds — the day pavilion and the night pavilion — populated by paper jellyfish and installations that evoke the intangible heritage of traditional paper-cutting. Highlights include installations such as “Peach-blossom Jellyfish” and “Janju Spinning-top Gramophone.” Through delicate paper-cutting and a play of light and shadow, Wen offers a comprehensive meditation on the universe and the journey of self-discovery. Fascinated by the traditional craft of paper-cutting, Wen innovatively integrates contemporary artistic language and diverse materials, bringing paper-cut techniques into public spaces, commercial environments and the fashion world. Her collaborators have included Coca-Cola, Acqua di Parma, and Chopard. Dates: Through Dec. 26 ‘The Pet Show’ The inaugural presentation in South China and the seventh leg of its world tour, “The Pet Show” features roughly 150 pieces of works by 24 renowned photographers from 12 countries, capturing countless adorable moments of our furry companions. Icelandic photographer Kari Bjorn’s “Dogs” series captures the spectacle of a New York pet fashion show, with each frame feeling like a couture advertising blockbuster. Under Gerard Gessins’s lens, an Afghan hound can appear almost like a handsome man with flowing hair. Sophie Gamand’s “Wet Dogs” transforms an entire space into a life-size, ultra-modern bathroom. The works accurately capture dogs in their most honest moments: drenched fur, slightly plaintive eyes, trembling bodies, and the frantic shakes that follow a bath. More outstanding works by other artists await you and your furry friends. The exhibition spans six themed scenes, with some pieces deliberately hung at a low angle so pets can view images of their own kind comfortably. Dates: Until Feb. 28, 2026 House of Moments Presented jointly by K11 ECOAST in collaboration with ARTI_SENSELAB, the House of Moments is a seaside art gallery where visitors can watch the show, sip coffee, browse curated fashion finds from around the world, and enjoy bespoke background music tailored to the space.
