A COLLABORATIVE innovation base for emerging industries between China and ASEAN countries was officially inaugurated Friday in Qianhai during the 2025 ASEAN-China GBA Economic Cooperation (Qianhai) Forum, attended by over 1,000 participants.

The China-ASEAN Collaborative Innovation Demonstration Base for Emerging Industries is designed as an integrated platform for the demonstration of emerging technologies, industrial standards alignment, policy coordination, and industry-science-technology collaboration.

The first four demonstration bases will be established in Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Singapore, and Kuala Lumpur, forming a network to facilitate industrial cooperation and regulatory alignment.

Also launched during the forum was the AI Security, Trustworthiness, and Responsibility International Open Laboratory. As the world’s first cross-border laboratory focusing on the ethical governance of AI, it will develop a leading AI capability verification and security testing platform built around a core model of standards, open evaluation, certification, and international mutual recognition.

During the forum, more than 20 cooperation projects were signed, covering sectors such as energy, healthcare, and culture. Notably the Qianhai Shenzhen-Hong Kong Youth Innovation Enterprises Hub signed a cooperation agreement with Thailand’s National Science and Technology Development Agency on innovation and startup development.

Shi Zhongjun, secretary-general of the ASEAN-China Center, said China and ASEAN have been each other’s largest trading partners for five consecutive years. He expressed his hope to build a tighter network for exchanges, deepen cooperation in areas such as digital intelligence, and deliver more tangible outcomes.
