THIS Christmas Eve, Lisa Ono’s world tour “Lisa’s Theater Room No. 2025” will stop in Shenzhen, inviting fans to revisit classic films through their soundtracks.

From “La Vie en Rose” to “In the Mood for Love,” Ono’s husky voice and beloved melodies will reunite you with your youthful memories.

Bossa Nova, meaning “new trend” in Portuguese, is a musical style that blends Brazilian samba with the cool jazz of the American West Coast. The soulful music sounds soft and soothing, like a lover’s laid-back and sweet whisper.

A Japanese musician born in São Paulo, Brazil, Ono is known as “the face of Asian Bossa Nova.” Her music combines the romance of Brazilian Bossa Nova, the improvisational energy of jazz, and the diverse tones of world music. Her warm, elegant voice has soothed and relaxed music lovers worldwide.

She began singing and playing the guitar at 15 and made her professional debut as a Bossa Nova singer in 1989. Her natural voice, rhythmic guitar playing, and charming smile led to huge success and helped popularize Bossa Nova in Asia.

She has performed with many top musicians, such as the legendary Antonio Carlos Jobim and Jazz Samba giant Joao Donato, and has toured enthusiastically in the U.S., Brazil, and across Asia. Her 1999 album “Dream” sold more than 200,000 copies in Japan, cementing her status in the Japanese Bossa Nova scene. She was the first non-Western singer to have released a top 10 Atlantic Records album.

Many Chinese fans first discovered Ono through her performance of “La Vie en Rose,” the soundtrack for the 2004 Chinese blockbuster “A World Without Thieves.” Since then, her soft, melodic voice has filled stylish bars, cafés, and upscale restaurants across China. She has also been invited to sing for numerous Chinese films and TV series.

This year’s concert tour features upgraded programs and stage effects. From the iconic scores of Hollywood’s Golden Age to the familiar melodies of European art films, the dazzling moments of our beloved films will be reborn through Ono’s unique Bossa Nova interpretation.(Li Dan)
