THE 2025 BrightMD Fair China, a leading global event for the high-performance medical device sector, will be held at the Shenzhen Convention and Exhibition Center in Futian District from Dec. 18 to 20. The dates were announced at a city government press conference yesterday. The exhibition will offer a comprehensive, full-chain presentation of pharmaceuticals and medical devices, showcasing Shenzhen’s latest advances in high-performance medical equipment and innovative medicines. Emerging fields such as biomanufacturing, AI-integrated medical devices, medical aesthetics, and home healthcare will be featured, highlighting progress from foundational innovation to industrial application. More than 300 exhibitors from around the world are expected to participate, including multinational giants like Siemens Healthineers and Medtronic as well as Chinese industry leaders and specialized innovators such as China Resources, Mindray, Edge Medical, and XtalPi. Over 20 concurrent forums will be held, covering topics from policy interpretation to frontier technologies. New at this year’s fair are dedicated zones for innovative drugs and biomanufacturing, alongside expanded areas for AI-integrated devices and medical aesthetics. The opening ceremony will see the debut of several cutting-edge pharmaceutical and medical device products, the release of an annual industry white paper, and the unveiling of a group of new biopharmaceutical specialty parks. Shenzhen’s pharmaceutical and medical device industry has shown steady expansion, with its total output value rising from 128 billion yuan (US$18 billion) in 2020 to 157.6 billion yuan in 2024 — an average annual growth of 5.3%. The medical device sector alone reached 102.8 billion yuan in output, maintaining the city’s top national ranking. In a related development, the Hong Kong segment of the 2025 BrightMD Fair China will open Dec. 11. It will focus on fields such as international clinical trials, technology and product globalization, cell and gene therapy, AI-integrated pharma and medtech, and brain science. A major emphasis will be placed on how Shenzhen-Hong Kong collaboration is accelerating the development of frontier products and technologies in the pharmaceutical and medical device industries.
