Hospital approved to use HK–Macao medical products
    2025-12-22  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

YANTIAN District People’s Hospital has been listed among the fourth batch of designated medical institutions participating in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area “Hong Kong–Macao Medical Products Access” scheme, the Guangdong Provincial Health Commission and the Guangdong Provincial Drug Administration announced. The hospital is one of seven Shenzhen institutions newly added to the list.

The scheme permits approved hospitals in the Greater Bay Area to use drugs and medical devices that are already marketed in Hong Kong and Macao when such products are deemed clinically necessary.

Since the program’s launch, about 140 drugs and medical devices have been introduced through this channel, benefiting roughly 17,000 patients in Guangdong.

Yantian’s proximity to Hong Kong, with the Shatoujiao Checkpoint serving as a major cross-border hub, gives the district a logistical advantage in facilitating rapid product introduction and medical cooperation.

As the district’s only tertiary public general hospital, Yantian District People’s Hospital meets the clinical and device-management standards required for participation in the scheme.

Its earlier experience in providing “Hong Kong-style family doctor” services also helped support the hospital’s application.

Officials say the designation will shorten the time it takes for local patients to access cutting-edge therapies and devices, strengthen cross-border medical collaboration, and further enhance healthcare services in Yantian.(Lian Jiaqi)
