Game revenue, user base hit new records
    2025-12-23  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

THE Chinese domestic game industry has set new record highs for revenue and user base this year, according to the latest official report.

Sales revenue of China’s domestic game market climbed 7.7% to 350.8 billion yuan (US$49.8 billion) this year from the previous year, according to a report released by the China Audio-Video and Digital Publishing Association during the 2025 China Game Industry Annual Conference on Friday.

Console games posted a total revenue of 8.4 billion yuan, up more than 86% in the period, marking the third year of rapid growth. Sales revenue from mini games surged 34% to 53.5 billion yuan.

There were a total of 683 million gamers in China this year, an increase of 1.4% from last year, data from the report also showed.

Chinese games’ overseas sales revenue rose 10% to US$20.5 billion this year from 2024, topping 100 billion yuan for the sixth consecutive year. Mobile games generated more than 90% of that.

The United States, Japan, and South Korea remained the main overseas markets for Chinese mobile games, accounting for 32%, 16%, and 9.2%, respectively, of their total overseas revenue. Germany, the United Kingdom, and France ranked fourth to sixth, accounting for about 8.8% together.

The total revenue of China’s gaming industry exceeded 1.2 trillion yuan this year, according to the findings of a research group organized by the CADPA Game Working Committee.

Driven by factors such as technological innovations like artificial intelligence, cultural dissemination, and industry synergy, the value of the gaming sector in contributing to China’s broader economic ecosystem will continue to grow, the research group predicted.
