SHENZHEN’S ability to tell China’s story on the global stage has been recognized with top honors from prestigious national-level international communication awards. The dance drama “Wing Chun,” an original Shenzhen production, was named one of the “Top 10 Excellent Cases of International Communication for 2024.” The list, now in its 10th year, is considered a highly authoritative benchmark in the industry. The announcement was made at the 2025 International Communication Collaboration and Cooperation Conference in Ningbo, Zhejiang Province. Submitted by the Publicity Department of the Shenzhen Municipal Committee of the CPC, the drama was recognized for successfully reaching “mainstream audiences, venues, and media.” It stood out among 152 provincial-level entries and was the only artistic production to receive the award at the provincial level. Since premiering in late 2022, “Wing Chun” has toured globally — performing 280 shows at 65 theaters in 53 cities — before arriving for its Canadian debut in Toronto on Dec. 16. The production has now appeared in 66 theaters across 54 cities. The upcoming 20‑show residency will raise the total to 300 performances. The innovative drama has won critical acclaim for combining high production value with the essence of traditional Chinese culture. In addition, the Shenzhen-produced short film “Work Diligently and Steadfastly” won the Best Award in the International Promotional Video category at the 7th “My China Story” International Short Video Competition last week. The film highlights the achievements of Shenzhen, a city known for miracles, innovation, and the future. (SD News) |
