Traditional Chinese shadow puppetry finds a new audience
    2025-12-25  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

Artworks created by the inheritors of the Wang family’s shadow puppetry troupe enchant visitors in a shopping mall in Beijing yesterday. Based in Shaanxi Province, the Wang family troupe has a history of more than 200 years and is renowned for its puppet-making, especially carving skills. As one of China’s oldest folk art forms, shadow puppetry — a mesmerizing blend of painting, carving, storytelling and singing — has been inscribed into the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.China News Service
