THE high-quality short drama series “The Miracles,” co-produced by China Media Group and the Publicity Department of the CPC Shenzhen Municipal Committee, premiered in prime time on China Central Television earlier this week. The series opens with the episode titled “Venturing South,” which follows delivery women navigating the maze-like high-rises of Shenzhen’s Huaqiangbei business area, vividly depicting the challenges and triumphs of their daily lives. In the episode, actress Yan Ni stars as “Sister Fan,” who unexpectedly begins a “staircase-delivery” journey in Huaqiangbei — known as China’s No. 1 Electronics Street — to support her entrepreneur son through difficult times. Through hard work and attentive service, Sister Fan and her fellow delivery women uncover substantial demand in the area, eventually generating business revenue of 100,000 yuan (US$14,230) in SEG Plaza alone. As China’s largest electronics distribution hub, Huaqiangbei pioneered the specialized electronics market model in the country. Its iconic “one-meter counter” spaces have nurtured countless business success stories, including the rise of tech giants such as Tencent. Today, the area attracts a vibrant community of innovators, forming a unique ecosystem that integrates R&D, design, prototyping, and supply chain management — helping global innovations rapidly come to life. The concept of “staircase-delivery” reflects Shenzhen’s underlying spirit of daring, determination, and efficiency — where “time is money, efficiency is life.” It illustrates how true miracles are born from steadfast, forward-moving effort. This series is set against the backdrop of the 45th anniversary of the establishment of the Shenzhen Special Economic Zone. It is structured into 15 independent units, with one to two episodes forming a unit. Each episode runs approximately 15 minutes. Spanning genres such as entrepreneurship, nostalgia, and science fiction, it is based on real-life stories collected from around the world that are related to Shenzhen, painting a multidimensional portrait of the city and its people, intertwining personal emotion with the spirit of the times. The production was filmed at over 200 locations across Shenzhen, including Huaqiangbei, the International Foreign Trade Center, and Lianhua Hill Park. The drama was filmed in 45 days, during which nearly 100 people were interviewed about their insights and experiences. (Han Ximin) |
