First national social science fund grant achieved

Lecturer Mo Wanjuan from the School of Marxism has been approved for the 2025 National Social Science Fund Youth Project with her research “Study on the Coal Supply in Modern Guangdong (1895-1949),” marking the university’s first success in securing such a grant.

Trilateral joint lab officially inaugurated

The 5th “SMBU-BIT-MSU” Youth Innovation in Science and Technology Forum opened, and the Trilateral Joint Laboratory in Bioinformatics and Engineering Biology was officially inaugurated. The laboratory will be jointly developed based on research platforms from the three universities.

New research published in top optics journal

A team led by Shen Mengqi from the Faculty of Engineering published a paper in the top-tier optics journal Laser & Photonics Reviews (IF=10), proposing a novel phase-retrieved high-throughput multi-channel simultaneous surface plasmon resonance detection method.

27 provincial university research projects approved

In 2025, the university secured 27 research projects from Guangdong Province, including key platforms, innovation teams, and special programs. Among these, the “Green Energy Storage Materials Key Laboratory” was approved, and innovation team projects maintained a 100% approval rate for the second consecutive year.

Collaborative paper wins IEEE WIFS Best Paper Award

A collaborative paper by the Faculty of Engineering and Russian partner institutions received the Best Paper Award at the IEEE International Workshop on Information Forensics and Security (IEEE WIFS 2025), highlighting the university’s international research strength in information security.
