
Students excel in GD recitation contest Student Burdyganov Petr (Chinese Language, 2023) won second prize in the international student category with poem “Tianmu Mountain Ascended in a Dream” (by poet Li Bai) at the 7th Guangdong “Reading China” Classic Recitation Contest, advancing to the national round. Yang Zijie (Computational Mathematics and Control, 2022) received an excellence award with “Sing for the Motherland” (by poet Chen Hui). SMBU students have achieved outstanding results in this prestigious contest for three consecutive years. Team wins national 1st prize in design contest A team of four undergraduates — Liu Ruida (captain), Zuo Junyu, Cheng Yuyang, and Zhao Mingze — guided by associate professor Zeng Runhao and researcher Zheng Jianbo, won first prize in both the East China regional final and the national final of the 2025 National Undergraduate IoT Design Contest. Undergraduates’ papers accepted at top intl. conference Two papers — one authored by Geng Yifei and another co-authored by Ren Zixuan, Xu Xinyue, Huang Xuanhao, and Pan Yuqi — have been accepted for presentation at the 51st Annual Conference of the European International Business Academy (EIBA), marking SMBU undergraduates’ debut at this prestigious forum. Economics team wins gold in GD new liberal arts competition The “Gone With the Wind” team — Chen Yongshi, Zhang Zihui, and Zeng Hui — guided by professor Xie Zhiwei and led by teacher Liu Lu, won the provincial gold medal (third place) at the 2025 Guangdong New Liberal Arts Practice Innovation Competition with their project on online consumer traps and governance. Language students shine in national Russian competition At the 2025 National Russian Language Competition for College Students, Wang Suyu won third prize in the senior group, and Fang Hengyu secured second prize in the graduate student group. Both students earned fully funded study opportunities in Russia from the China Scholarship Council. Undergraduates win national youth tech innovation award A 10-member team guided by professor Zhao Weibing won the national third prize in the biomedicine category at the 2025 China Youth Technology Innovation Challenge. Economics students publish paper in SSCI Q1 journal A research paper by a team of economics undergraduates, including Li Zixin, Ouyang Lu, Chen Yufei, He Ziqian, and Li Xiaotong, supervised by Muhammad Farrukh, has been published in The International Journal of Management Education, an SSCI Q1 journal in management education. Students excel in FLTRP·ETIC Cup provincial rounds In the 2025 Guangdong provincial rounds of the “FLTRP·ETIC Cup” “Understanding Contemporary China” National Foreign Language Contest for College Students, four SMBU students won awards: Zhao Xichen (silver in translation), Wang Yining (bronze in comprehensive skills), Tang Huaiyuan, and He Zhuoyu (both bronze in speech). Students win award in provincial biochemistry lab skills competition A project by two undergraduate students — Zhou Suhang and Wang Zhuotianhao, guided by professor Zhao Lei, won third prize at the 2025 Guangdong Biochemistry Lab Skills Competition for College Students for their research on HBV nucleocapsid assembly and chromatin regulation. |
