Dapeng geopark closes cliffside hiking trails
    2026-01-15  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

Dapeng Peninsula National Geopark in Shenzhen has closed off access to Wanglanggui Peak, an undeveloped and officially prohibited area known for its striking coastal scenery. The 434-meter-high peak, which poses significant safety risks, was closed following several fatal hiking incidents in the area since last year. The geopark is noted for its ancient volcanic remains, formed 145 million years ago. Since 2023, park authorities have conducted 229 rescue operations, often assisting hikers stranded after nightfall. Visitors are strongly urged to avoid the area and to adhere to national guidelines that prohibit entering unopened sections of nature reserves
