LOCATED at the junction of Nylam and Gyirong counties in Xigaze, Baiku Co is the largest inland lake within the Mount Qomolangma National Nature Reserve. Spanning over 300 square kilometers and situated at 4,590 meters above sea level, it is the most expansive lake in southern Xizang. Though less renowned than Nam Co or Yamzhog Yumco, Baiku Co remains a striking natural landmark, its crystal-blue waters contrasting vividly with the surrounding wilderness. Baiku Co offers a serene and secluded beauty, framed by the distant peak of Mount Xixabangma. Its sapphire surface resembles a teardrop upon the Himalayas, embodying tranquility and timelessness. In winter, Baiku Co freezes into a vast sheet of silent blue ice, embraced by snow-dusted mountains that shimmer with a sacred, crystalline light under the clear plateau sun. (SD News) |
