CELEBRATING 75 years since Charles M. Schulz launched “Peanuts” in 1950, the special exhibition “How Do You Do, Snoopy? — 75 Years: A Journey of Friendship Through Art” is on view at Kaledo in Nanshan District. Officially authorized by Peanuts Worldwide LLC, the show brings together classic originals, vintage collectibles and contemporary art to trace Snoopy’s cultural journey across comics, fashion, art and space. A highlight is a concentrated display of more than 50 original “Peanuts” comic strips — many shown together in Asia for the first time — offering visitors a rare look at Schulz’s hand-drawn lines and storytelling. These works chart Snoopy’s evolution from an ordinary beagle to an imaginative polymath: a celebrated writer, a daring World War I flying ace and even a lunar-bound beagle astronaut. The black-and-white pen strokes that define “Peanuts” are presented as a form of visual art that resonates in Asia, where the economy of line and gesture finds strong cultural echo. Complementing the originals, the exhibition features nearly 100 contemporary works by 24 Asian and international artists and studios. The “Snoopy in Art” section is organized into four chapters — “Snoopy Dialogues With Asia”; “Snoopy: Contemporary Reinterpretations”; “Snoopy’s Fantastic Realms”; and “Dialogues With Nature” — and showcases paintings, sculptures and installations that recast the beloved character in new cultural and conceptual frames. The show also highlights Snoopy’s real-world connection to space exploration. In 1968, NASA adopted Snoopy as an emblem for astronaut safety programs, and Apollo 10’s lunar module was nicknamed Snoopy in 1969. The “Snoopy in Space” gallery traces more than half a century of collaboration between Peanuts and NASA with archival imagery and memorabilia, framing Snoopy as a symbol of curiosity, aspiration and the human drive to explore. Fashion-minded visitors will appreciate “Snoopy and Belle in Fashion,” which surveys Peanuts’ long history of collaborations with luxury and designer labels. Since the early 1980s, brands including Hermès, Celine, Chloé, Giorgio Armani, Salvatore Ferragamo and Levi’s have created iconic Snoopy and Belle looks; the exhibition features a selection of these moments and explores how costume has amplified character and imagination. For collectors and fans, the exhibition debuts a 75th‑anniversary limited merchandise collection, featuring Snoopy stickers, fridge magnets and artist-collaboration items, all available at the Level 3 pop-up store.
