China enacted a zero-tariff policy for all registered residents of Hainan Province on Thursday. The policy grants eligible residents, including international residents who work and live in Hainan and hold valid residence permits, an annual duty-free shopping quota of 10,000 yuan (US$1,437) for designated imported goods. Eligible items include daily necessities such as food, beverages, household goods, and maternal and child supplies. When shopping at authorized retailers, residents will be exempt from import duties, value-added tax, and consumption tax on purchases within their quota, with no restrictions on the number of transactions |
