Eastern Guangdong’s largest geek event kicks off in Puning
    2026-02-27  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

A robot performance captivates visitors during a public open day ahead of the inaugural 23.5°N GeekDay event in Puning City, Guangdong Province. Running from Feb. 27 to March 1, this gathering is the first large-scale geek event in eastern Guangdong. The event derives its name from the 23.5° north latitude line that runs through the Chaoshan area. In preparation since 2024, the inaugural GeekDay will feature a diverse program including a Hackathon, a Nerd Bar networking session, and a Maker Show. The centerpiece Hackathon is a 48-hour programming competition boasting a total prize pool of 60,000 yuan (US$8,250), challenging participants to push the boundaries of their creativity and technical skills.China News Service
