WHILE Shenzhen is no stranger to spring blooms, this year’s “Spring Flower Collection: Rose Appreciation Event” raises the bar, turning four beloved parks into a sweeping floral spectacle. From romantic vistas and interactive installations to daily programming, the citywide celebration invites visitors to experience roses in every form. Renmin Park 人民公园 Celebrated as China’s first “World Rose Garden” and known as the “Southern China Rose Center,” Renmin Park is the festival’s centerpiece. Some 300 rose varieties bloom across a 35,000‑square‑meter floral expanse divided into six distinct viewing areas, each offering a different interpretation of the rose. Highlights include the West Gate’s layered-petal entrance, a heart‑shaped rose arch framed by towering cedars, the central rose garden with a shell pavilion draped in climbing roses, and a misty Flower Creek where flower‑laden boats drift beneath bamboo lanterns. A display area for new cultivars features recent introductions from the Yunnan Academy of Agricultural Sciences, while painted steps, art arches and live demonstrations add immersive, Instagram‑friendly touches. The park also hosts 19 themed activities, including live painting, craft fairs, treasure hunts, poetry contests and music salons — offering something new each day.
