The Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) now hosts three of the six cities in China with a GDP exceeding 3 trillion yuan (US$436 billion) each. The announcement was made by Guangdong’s top leader, Huang Kunming, during the ongoing annual session of China’s top legislature. This milestone follows Hong Kong’s latest economic performance, which recorded a GDP of HK$3.33 trillion in 2025. The other five Chinese cities that have surpassed the mark include Shanghai, Beijing, Shenzhen, Chongqing, and Guangzhou.
