Shenzhen ranks fourth globally for young billionaires
    2026-03-12  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

Seven entrepreneurs aged 40 or under from Shenzhen have secured spots on the Hurun Global U40 Self-Made Billionaires 2026 list, tying the city with Bangalore, Palo Alto, and Los Angeles for the fourth-highest concentration of young billionaires worldwide. The rankings, released Tuesday by the Hurun Research Institute, place San Francisco, Shanghai, and New York as the top three cities. For the first time, the AI sector overtakes all others as the world’s leading wealth engine. A total of 27 AI entrepreneurs made the global list — accounting for a quarter of all honorees — with an average age of just 32 and combined wealth approaching 700 billion yuan (US$102 billion). Edwin Chen, the 38-year-old founder of San Francisco-based Surge AI, tops the list in his debut appearance, with a personal fortune of 135 billion yuan
