NEARLY 400 companies and institutions from Shenzhen are set to participate in a major provincial recruitment fair in Guangzhou on March 15-16, collectively offering more than 21,000 positions, according to the city’s human resources authorities. The event, hosted at the Canton Fair Complex, marks the first large-scale job fair of the year under Guangdong Province’s “Million Talents Gather in Guangdong” initiative, which aims to attract young, high-caliber professionals. Organizers anticipate that over 1,500 key employers will participate in the fair, presenting more than 50,000 job opportunities in total. Shenzhen’s contingent will feature a diverse mix of leading private companies, central and state-owned enterprises, universities, technology firms, and specialized small and medium-sized enterprises. The delegation includes 60 Fortune 500 companies, 26 top-tier universities and research institutions, and prominent industry names such as China Resources, BYD, Tencent, ZTE, and UBTech. Of the more than 21,000 positions on offer from Shenzhen employers, approximately 14,000 are targeted at graduates with bachelor’s degrees, 3,400 are for master’s and doctoral degree holders, and over 5,300 are internships for current students. The roles span strategic emerging industries, including artificial intelligence, new energy, and biomedicine. Annual salaries for these positions range from 200,000 yuan (US$29,000) to over 1 million yuan. Furthermore, compensation for more than 600 master’s and doctoral-level roles is negotiable with no upper limit. The province will roll out a multi-city spring recruitment initiative from March through May, which includes a separate large-scale comprehensive job fair planned for Shenzhen, though specific details have yet to be released. Throughout the year, more than 10,000 key employers from Guangdong are expected to visit 100 major universities nationwide during the spring and autumn recruitment seasons, aligning hiring needs with academic strengths. In 2025, Guangdong organized over 5,000 recruitment events and attracted 1.1 million college graduates. Officials noted that of the 12.22 million college graduates nationwide last year, roughly one in 10 chose to work or start a business in the province. (Li Jing) |
