A planned road-rail sea-crossing link connecting Shenzhen and Zhuhai — the first of its kind in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area — has taken a major step forward. The National Development and Reform Commission has officially pledged support in response to a bill put forward by a Guangdong lawmaker during the annual session of the country’s top legislature earlier this month. The project will connect Qianhai in Shenzhen to the High-tech Zone in Zhuhai. Once completed, travel time between the two cities is expected to be cut to just 30 minutes. It will comprise three main components: a highway, a high-speed railway linking Shenzhen’s Xili Station, and an intercity railway connecting Qianhai Station in Shenzhen |
