Troussov siblings bring musical bond to town
    2026-03-23  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

HAVE you ever wondered how two siblings who learned and grew up making music together can turn a lifetime of shared instincts into a single, radiant stage voice? That is exactly the promise of the Troussov duo: sister Alexandra Troussova and brother Kirill Troussov, a rare sibling partnership acclaimed as a “world-class” duo.

Hailing from Munich, Germany, Alexandra is a sought-after pianist on the world’s leading stages, while Kirill has been praised by the Süddeutsche Zeitung as “one of the most gifted violinists of his generation.” From the moment they could walk, music has been their common language; that lifelong rapport is audible in every phrase of their performances. Their collaborative recordings have earned international awards and high praise from critics.

For their Shenzhen recital the Troussovs present a program that crosses German, French and Russian horizons: Beethoven’s “Violin Sonata No.7 in C minor, Op.30 No.2”; Vitali’s “Chaconne in G minor” (arr. Ferdinand David); César Franck’s “Sonata for Violin and Piano in A major”; and Tchaikovsky’s “Valse‑Scherzo in C major, Op.34.” The program balances classical structure, Romantic fervor and virtuosic sparkle — an ideal vehicle for the duo’s intimate musical dialogue.

Kirill performs on the legendary “Brodsky” Stradivarius made by Antonio Stradivari in 1702. This very instrument was famously played by Adolph Brodsky at the premiere of Tchaikovsky’s Violin Concerto on Dec. 4, 1881, linking the Troussovs’ performance to a storied lineage of violin tradition.

Time: 8 p.m., April 17

Venue: Bay Opera of Shenzhen, Bao’an District (深圳滨海艺术中心)
