● Feb. 1-10 The first APEC Senior Officials’ Meeting (SOM) and related sessions were held in Guangzhou, Guangdong Province, serving as the inaugural official event of the APEC “China Year.”

● Feb. 7-9 A Chinese business delegation led by the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) hosted the first 2026 meeting of the APEC Business Advisory Council (ABAC) in Jakarta, Indonesia. The event served as the first major business gathering of the APEC “China Year.”

● Feb. 10 The official bilingual website for the APEC “China Year”(www.APEC2026.cn) went live.

● Feb. 27 The “APEC China Year: Shenzhen in Action” promotional campaign was launched.

● March 5 Volunteer recruitment for APEC 2026 began with the debut of the English version of the “Volunteer Shenzhen” mini-program, which features a dedicated section for the summit.

● March 5 The “Woodpecker Action” initiative was launched, inviting volunteers and citizens to serve as “city woodpeckers” by patrolling the streets to inspect and refine multilingual public signage.

● March 15 During the 15th China International New Media Short Film Festival, the KingBonn Awards (the Short Film Director Support Program) introduced a new initiative to encourage the production of films centered on APEC-related themes.

● March 18-19 The 71st Meeting of the APEC Energy Working Group (EWG71) was held in Nanchang, Jiangxi Province. At the meeting, China put forward three proposals to promote energy cooperation in the Asia-Pacific region: advancing high-quality universal energy access, integrating AI with energy, and strengthening coordinated energy governance.

● March 20 Shenzhen launched the “Be a Gracious Host, Welcome APEC” campaign, promoting civic engagement and hospitality ahead of the summit.
