Convective storms hit parts of Guangdong
    2026-03-31  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

Traffic police clear a downed tree in Guangzhou’s Yuexiu District yesterday following a severe convective storm. The extreme weather has swept across Guangdong Province over the past two days, impacting major hubs including Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Zhuhai, and Huizhou, and grounding numerous flights across the region. While Shenzhen lifted its yellow alert for thunderstorms and gales at 2:20 p.m. yesterday, volatile weather is expected to persist throughout the week. Forecasts predict severe thunderstorms for today and tomorrow, with further heavy rainfall and convective activity anticipated during the upcoming Qingming Festival.Xinhua
