All HK taxis now accept cashless payments
    2026-04-02  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

A taxi passenger makes an electronic payment in Hong Kong yesterday. As of yesterday, all taxi drivers in Hong Kong are required to offer at least two electronic payment options: one QR code-based method, such as Alipay, WeChat Pay, or BoC Pay, and one non-QR code option, including Octopus cards, credit cards, or the Faster Payment System. Drivers who fail to comply without reasonable justification may face a fine of up to HK$5,000 (US$638) and up to six months’ imprisonment.China News Service
