Guangzhou unveils first-of-its-kind computing platform
    2026-04-08  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

GUANGZHOU has officially launched the city’s first token-level comprehensive computing power operation service platform, marking a first of its kind in China.

According to Huang Jin, director of the Guangzhou government service and data management bureau, the platform is intended to act as a high-standard bridge between the city’s computing power resources and real application needs. By optimizing how computing resources are allocated, it aims to support more artificial intelligence use cases across thousands of industries and help build a healthier computing power ecosystem.

At the same time, construction of four approved computing power projects began at a new computing infrastructure construction and computing power supply-demand matchmaking conference held in Huangpu District. Once completed, the projects are expected to add an intelligent computing capacity of 40,000 Pflops, representing a breakthrough for Guangzhou in developing a single intelligent computing center capable of supporting 10,000 cards and 10,000 Pflops.

The projects, with a total investment of 4.84 billion yuan (US$701.45 million), demonstrate Guangzhou’s determination and efficiency in advancing computing infrastructure development, Huang said.

Huang added that building and implementing computing infrastructure will further strengthen Guangzhou’s role as a key hub node in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. The city plans to develop a high-speed computing power network based on unified standards and rules, enabling cross-regional and cross-entity connection and scheduling. This will help ensure smooth, stable computing services while laying a solid foundation for the long-term growth and competitiveness of Guangzhou’s computing power industry.

Guangzhou’s municipal government said it places significant importance on the development of computing infrastructure. The initiative is viewed as a key step toward fostering “new quality productive forces,” driving high-quality development of the digital economy, and securing a leading position in the AI sector.(SD-Agencies)
