China’s first homegrown cruise to set sail from SZ in August
    2026-04-13  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

CHINA’S first homegrown large cruise ship, the Adora Magic City, is set to launch its inaugural homeport operations from Shenzhen this summer, marking the vessel’s first stop in South China as part of its China Coast Tour.

According to the operating plan, the Adora Magic City will depart from the Shekou Cruise Home Port from August 13 to September 16, offering multiple international itineraries. These include five-day, four-night and six-day, five-night voyages that will call at popular destinations such as Hue, Ha Long Bay, and Nha Trang in Vietnam, as well as Jeju in South Korea.

In addition, a special mid-to-long itinerary – the nine-day, eight-night “Maritime Silk Road Discovery Voyage” – will be launched on August 27. This route will visit Kota Kinabalu in Malaysia, Muara in Brunei, and Nha Trang in Vietnam.

Measuring 323.6 meters in length with a gross tonnage of 136,200 metric tons, the vessel features 2,125 cabins and suites designed to meet international comfort standards. The ship’s name reflects Shanghai’s local nickname, “Magic City.”

The Adora Magic City is operated by Adora Cruises, which currently manages two large ships: Magic City and Mediterranea.

Adora Cruises is concurrently advancing the construction of its second large cruise vessel, the Adora Flora City. With hull assembly now completed, the ship is slated for delivery by the end of 2026. Upon completion, the Adora Flora City will be homeported in Guangzhou — a city often called the “Flower City” – and is expected to launch international cruise services from the city thereafter.                             (SD News)
