THERE are concerts that entertain, and then there are those that transport you — inviting you to walk, note by luminous note, through two centuries of a country’s musical soul. “The Sound of Italy,” performed by the acclaimed Italian duo Sator Duo, is firmly the latter. From the blazing, almost supernatural genius of Niccolò Paganini to the deep, timeless lyricism of Ennio Morricone, every phrase and cadence echoes with the spirit of Italy. Hailed as “one of the most exciting duos in Italy today,” Sator Duo — violinist Paolo Castellani and guitarist Francesco Di Giandomenico — are celebrated for their energy, emotional tension, and virtuosity. Their accolades include first prize at the “Le Note Sinfonie” International Competition and first prize at the 15th “Riviera Etrusca” Competition. In 2020, they were invited to the prestigious Fundación Pablo Atchugarry Festival in Latin America. Beyond their dazzling performance schedule, Sator Duo has inspired world-renowned composers — such as Robert Hutmacher and Francesco Colasanto — to write works specifically for them. Their discography spans tango, Latin, and classical genres. The evening weaves together virtuoso showpieces, original works, and cinematic nostalgia. The program includes “Sonata No. 1, Op. 64,” “Songoj de la Maro” (“Song of the Sea”), “Czardas,” “Romanza,” “Sonata Concertata in A Major, Op. 61,” and “Malagueña.” Time: 3 p.m., May 31 Venue: Black Box, Pingshan Theater, Pingshan District (坪山大剧院“黑匣子”小剧场) Metro: Line 14 to Pingshan Square Station (坪山广场站), Exit D1(Tang Li) |
