Citywalk in Nantou Ancient City
    2026-05-18  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

Today is the first day of my holiday. The sun is shining brightly, and the weather is perfect. So my family and I decide to travel in an eco-friendly way to Nantou Ancient City, a lovely historic place. We take the subway, and it takes us about 30 to 45 minutes to reach Zhongshan Park Station.

As soon as we get off the subway and walk toward the ancient city, we see beautiful lanterns hanging all along the street, making the whole place feel warm and lively. It is already noon when we arrive, so we plan to have a delicious lunch there. I have two great restaurants to recommend.

If you love roast duck, Guangdong Guangwei Roasted Meat Store is a perfect choice. It is a long-standing local roast meat shop with reasonable prices — only about 24 yuan per person. The duck skin there is super crispy and fresh, tasting amazing.

For curry lovers, Sujin is a nice option. Its Japanese curry costs 39 yuan per person, and I love its chicken curry rice the most. The curry is rich and fragrant, and the food looks so good that it’s perfect for taking photos. The restaurant also has a very cozy and comfortable atmosphere.

After lunch, we walk around the quiet alleys of the ancient city.

There are many interesting exhibition halls, as well as lots of small shops selling cute trinkets and serving tasty afternoon tea. In the afternoon, we visit some shops that sell not only beautiful jewelry but also lovely stationery. Then we go to a dessert shop for a snack — its Swiss rolls are the most popular. They cost 39 yuan each, not too sweet nor too bland, just perfect. I highly recommend them.

After visiting the ancient city, we take a walk in nearby Zhongshan Park. The air there is very fresh, and there’s a big green lawn where many people fly kites and have picnics. It’s a great place to relax after our visit.
