THE Chaoshan region is famous nationwide for its beef hotpot, yet few cattle are raised locally. Through sophisticated supply chain integration and masterful butchery, Chaozhou — a city not known for cattle production — has built a unique beef industry. Official data shows the city has more than 2,000 beef hotpot restaurants and processing enterprises, consuming some 90,000 head of cattle annually — while slaughtering only 3,200 locally. More than 90% of live cattle come from Inner Mongolia, Yunnan, Ningxia and other regions across China.(SD News) |
