SHENZHEN has just unveiled a fresh natural escape in Longgang District: Nanwan Country Park. Spanning about 123 hectares, the park connects with Wutong Mountain National Forest Park, forming a continuous green ecological corridor — a genuine invitation to slow down and reconnect with the outdoors. A park built around mountain Nanwan Country Park places the mountain at the center of the experience. Visitors can wander along winding lakeside boardwalks, move through platform corridors, pause at viewing decks, and finish at an observation lookout tower. The route feels intentionally layered, like a tribute to the sky, the earth, and everything in between. Must-see highlights S-shaped bridge & circular viewing deck (Nanwan Bond): A suspended deck 28 meters high. Step on, feel the mountain breeze wrap around you, and watch the lake, city, and mountains layer like living artwork. Orange-yellow skywalk & S-shaped corridor: A bright ring-shaped skywalk floats through dense forest, offering sweeping mountain views. Next to it, an S-shaped corridor winds through lush greenery like a flowing ribbon — a dream spot for atmospheric photos. Nanwan moon viewing platform: This 22-meter double-decker platform provides 360-degree panoramas of lake, forest, and city skyline. Sunset is pure magic. A second deck at 13.85 meters offers dramatic views: The Shenzhen TV Tower appears faintly among rolling mountains, while the city below falls into a sudden hush. Unpowered forest playground: Tucked under two tall, lush trees, this children’s area looks like a natural treehouse. Slides, climbing nets, and swings provide hours of unstructured fun while parents relax in the shade. Flower sea creek valley: Large patches of purple-pink verbena bloom in a shaded valley. Stroll through and capture photos that feel like stepping into a Monet painting. Taoyuan Blue Lake: A wooden boardwalk curves gently along the shoreline, with several platforms extending over the water. Sit down and watch the reflections drift across the lake. Blue fitness trail: A 2.5-km smooth blue path midway up the hillside, perfect for jogging or power walking. The mountain walking trail has no stairs, making it beginner-friendly. Getting there Metro: Line 14 to Shiyaling Station (石芽岭站), Exit A2, then transfer to Bus J5 or the Nanwan Country Park Shuttle Bus; or Line 3 to Danzhutou Station (丹竹头站), Exit A1 or D, then take a taxi. Note: The shuttle bus runs only on weekends and public holidays. Self-drive: Navigate to “沙湾实验学校” (Shawan Experimental School). Park near surrounding residential areas and walk in. (Tang Li) |
