Mugwort bouquet workshop brings Dragon Boat Festival heritage to life
    2026-06-18  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

Participants craft mugwort bouquets during a workshop at Hotel Kapok Shenzhen Houhai in Nanshan District on Tuesday. Organized by the Shekou Management and Service Center for Expats (Shekou MSCE), the event invited 20 local and expat residents to experience the traditions of the Dragon Boat Festival, which falls on Friday this year. Hanging mugwort is a festival staple, used to repel insects and to symbolize protection against evil spirits. As one of China’s four major traditional festivals — alongside the Spring Festival, Qingming Festival, and Mid-Autumn Festival — the Dragon Boat Festival dates back 2,000 years. Shekou MSCE
