Lionel Messi breaks record for most World Cup goals
    2026-06-24  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

Lionel Messi celebrates his goal in Argentina’s World Cup Group J match against Austria in Dallas, the U.S., yesterday Beijing time. He became the highest goal scorer in World Cup history, moving up to 18 with a superb double in the match and breaking a tie with Germany legend Miroslav Klose. On top of making World Cup history, Messi is Argentina’s all-time leading goalscorer with 122 goals. He also holds the record for the most World Cup match appearances, with 27, and will look to add to that total by the end of the tournament. Xinhua
