Lian Jiaqi 403950598@qq.com A LECTURE titled “Industrial Transformation and Global Governance in the New Stage of AI Evolution” took place last week at the Shenzhen Longhua International Cooperation Center (LICC). The event was organized by the Office of the Foreign Affairs Committee and the Organization Department of the CPC Shenzhen Longhua District Committee. The lecture featured Jia Kai, a professor and doctoral advisor at the School of International and Public Affairs, Shanghai Jiao Tong University. Longhua government officials and representatives of local enterprises attended the session. In an interview, Jia noted that the shortage of interdisciplinary talent is a key bottleneck for intelligent manufacturing. He defined such talent as professionals who are proficient in both traditional manufacturing and AI. The gap, he said, cannot be closed through short‑term hiring alone; instead, it calls for sustained, production‑oriented training. He stressed that balancing development and security is fundamental to the AI industry, as only secure technologies can earn public trust and unlock their full value. He urged governments to provide AI safety infrastructure as a public good, which would ease compliance burdens and allow businesses to focus on innovation. Jia said that hosting the APEC summit offers a critical window to showcase Shenzhen’s technological, industrial, and institutional progress to Asia‑Pacific economies. |
