SZ facing unsettled week as typhoon risk looms for South China
    2026-06-30  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

Vehicles navigate through floodwaters on Sungang Road, Luohu District, yesterday afternoon following an orange rainstorm alert issued by the Shenzhen Meteorological Observatory. The city’s unsettled weather is expected to persist throughout the week. Meanwhile, the National Meteorological Center warns that one or two typhoons may develop in the South China Sea and the western Pacific within the next 10 days, with at least one posing a potential landfall threat to South China. Historical data underscores Guangdong’s vulnerability, with the province recording 35 “first landfalls” over the past 76 years — accounting for 46% of the national total — making it the most frequent entry point for China’s annual maiden typhoon.Liu Xudong
