Shenzhen issued a white typhoon alert Thursday morning, the city’s first of the year, after a tropical depression moved within 800 kilometers of the coast. According to the local weather forecast, the storm is expected to make landfall on the eastern coast of Hainan Province between Friday afternoon and evening, and strike again Saturday along the coast stretching from southern China’s Guangxi to northern Vietnam. While the storm is not headed directly for Shenzhen, meteorologists warned of unstable weather, frequent thunderstorms, and a high risk of localized downpours from Friday through early next week |
