One photo, two decades: How the Qinghai-Xizang Railway changed Tatso’s life
    2026-07-03  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

TWENTY-ONE years ago, Xinhua photojournalist Chogo took a vivid photo at the construction site of the Qinghai-Xizang Railway in Damxung County on March 30, 2005. In the picture, two girls were sitting beside a rail with bright smiles on their faces. Now, one of the girls, Tatso, is already a mother of three, and the railway has changed her life. Since its opening in 2006, the railway has moved over 100 million tonnes of goods and 41 million passengers. Her family has grown from a single motorcycle and herding income to three trucks, two cars and more than 50 yaks. Now, Tatso dreams of taking her children on a train to Beijing.(SD News)
