YOU may not recognize his face or even know his name, but you have almost certainly heard his music. Thomas Bergersen, co-founder of the legendary trailer music group Two Steps From Hell, will perform in China for the first time this August. He will bring his epic live concert — featuring a full symphony orchestra and choir — to Guangzhou, Beijing, and Shanghai, with Guangzhou serving as the China debut. Bergersen is a Norwegian composer and multi-instrumentalist. He is also one of the world’s most-streamed classical crossover artists, drawing nearly 2 million monthly listeners on Spotify. His music has scored hundreds of Hollywood blockbuster trailers, including “Harry Potter,” “Avatar,” “The Avengers,” “The Dark Knight,” “Star Trek,” and “Pirates of the Caribbean.” Unlike a traditional classical concert, Bergersen’s live show fuses orchestra, choir, and electronic soundscapes with dynamic lighting and visual design. Each piece is structured like a film without images, taking the audience on an emotional journey from stillness to explosion, loneliness to hope. The 120-minute performance explores themes of war and peace, loss and reunion, and collapse and reconstruction. Without relying on film scenes or visual effects, the music itself becomes the main narrative voice, guiding the audience through a complete emotional arc told solely through melody.
