The Shekou Sports Center — a cherished fixture in Nanshan District for 37 years — is slated to be demolished and rebuilt as a smart cultural and sports complex, according to Nanshan District Public Works Bureau. Once completed, the redeveloped facility will feature an ice sports center and a public fitness center. Its multi-level design will also include a rooftop football pitch and skateboarding area, along with three ground-level pitches and an outdoor climbing wall. Built in 1989, the center stands as Shekou’s only open-air stadium and a vital community amenity. Over the past three decades, it has served more than 100,000 residents, drawing an average of over 3,000 visitors daily |
