HK Book Fair opens with over 600 events
    2026-07-13  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

THE 2026 Hong Kong Book Fair will take place at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Center from Wednesday to July 21, transforming the city into a vibrant crossroads of ideas, stories, and imagination. This year’s theme, “Reading the World: Cultural Legacy · Joyful Journeys,” invites readers to embark on a dual exploration — delving into the rich tapestry of traditional culture while discovering the world through the lens of travel and nature.

A world of stories across genres

The fair’s curated selection spans an extraordinary range of subjects: from cultural and ecological tourism to community storytelling, from historical landmarks and time-honored crafts to intangible heritage and sustainable development. Creative industries, art and design, and cross-cultural innovation also take center stage, ensuring that every visitor finds a narrative that resonates.

Eight seminars

True to its legacy, the fair presents eight seminar series, including the annual theme, international perspectives, local history, English and international reading, lifestyle, spiritual growth, children’s literature, and a prestigious lineup of renowned authors. In partnership with Ming Pao and Asia Weekly, the fair welcomes celebrated Chinese-language writers from across the Straits, alongside overseas and local English authors who share their creative journeys. A notable new highlight is the ASEAN Literary Festival, launched with the Hong Kong-ASEAN Foundation, fostering cross-cultural dialogue between Hong Kong and Southeast Asia.

World Arts and Culture Gallery

At the heart of the fair lies the World Arts and Culture Gallery, featuring the evocative exhibition “Unveiling the Literary Journey.” Through four immersive zones and six interactive installations, visitors can discover books and travel routes tailored to their own tastes. The gallery showcases over 200 books and artefacts, offering a poetic glimpse into the enduring charm of travel literature.

Other events

The fair also features more than 600 cultural activities unfolding both within the convention center and across the city. From author dialogues to guided tours and hands-on workshops, each event weaves a thread between reading and living.

For those seeking a fuller experience, a single ticket grants access not only to the book fair but also to the Hong Kong Sports and Leisure Expo and the World of Snacks.

Dates: July 15–21

Venue: Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Center, 1 Expo Drive, Wan Chai, Hong Kong (Harbour Road entrance)(SD News)
