‘Futuristic spaceship’ landmark to open at Qianhai Stone Park
    2026-07-22  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

A FUTURISTIC landmark named Qianhai Jilang — or Qianhai Wave — is set to open soon at Qianhai Stone Park, the Qianhai Authority announced Monday.

The four‑story structure has already turned heads with its sci‑fi‑inspired silhouette. Designed to function both as a key park facility and a vibrant public space, the building will host urban art exhibitions and light shows while offering panoramic views of the bay.

Its multi‑directional, stacked‑block form evokes either a spaceship docked along the coast or a pile of monumental stones.

Project manager Shi Jiaxin explained that the name draws from the Chinese idiom “one stone stirs a thousand waves,” which is reflected in the building’s curved, futuristic profile.

Standing 24 meters tall and covering roughly 4,000 square meters, the structure is now in its final construction phase.

Among its standout features are three interconnected photoelectric curtain walls, totaling 220 square meters. By day, floor‑to‑ceiling windows frame sweeping vistas of the park’s lawns, the sea, and the city skyline. By night, a projection system will synchronize with the curtain walls to deliver immersive light displays.

Once completed, the facility will include viewing platforms, a public service center, and commercial amenities such as a robot‑operated cafe and augmented‑reality (AR) exhibitions.

Qianhai Stone Park is a landmark coastal site in Shenzhen, best known for the Qianhai Stone — a large yellow wax stone engraved with the Chinese character “Qianhai” — which commemorates the area’s development and history.  (SD News)
