A giant panda cools off under a misting system at the Chongqing Zoo in southwest China on Thursday, the start of Dashu, or Greater Heat — the final and most intense solar term of summer. The zoo has rolled out heat-relief measures to help animals cope with the scorching conditions. Lasting through Aug. 6, the period is characterized by high temperatures and humidity.
